the FRESH Conference
European Association of Communcation Directors (EACD)
Posted July 4th, 2009 by maarten.vannest...
Transnational communication is a management task of increasing importance within a constantly developing European Union. For communicators in multinational companies, associations, institutions and politics, a European perspective is crucial in their strategic and practical work. Just as important as this are networks across cultural, political and linguistic borders where Communication Directors and Spokespersons can exchange experiences, opinions, and knowledge.
The European Association of Communication Directors (EACD) was founded in November 2006 in Brussels. It is the network for communication professionals from all fields across Europe. The EACD establishes common quality standards and advances professional qualification within the field by organising events and meetings. The non-partisan association lobbies for the profession, offers legal advice and provides useful services and information media.
With the current White Paper the Vice President of the European Commission, Margot Wallström, has addressed the need for the professionalisation of European communication. The EACD acts on these political recommendation on behalf of its professional group of communicators from companies, associations, European institutions, the public sector and politics. It aims for the formulation of communicative norms and expectations as a declaration of a pan-European communication culture.
